The 20th Anniversary celebrations for the Irish Deaf Women’s Group went very well. It was held on the Carton House Hotel on 29th of September. The speakers were Susan O’Reilly, Gaye Regan, Helen Saunders, Lisa Kauppinen (WFD), Sue Barry (Belfast), Joan Burton (Irish Labour Party), Francis McDonnell (Visiting Teacher of deaf) and Bernadette Walsh. The launch of our new website displayed and this is by web design, Ronan Lowry. He was excellent to set up this for us. Thanks him for his volunteering.

After Breda O’Grady was with a drum and past and present committees with the candles around the hall. Breda Redmond and Patricia Heffernan were signing the poem of “Believe in Yourself”. Then there was a booth camp displayed many interests to many members especially a big crowd at Sue Barry (Holistic samples).

One hundred and Eighty women attended, the biggest number ever. The formal dress was worn for the occasion and wonderful food was enjoyed by all . There was a great interest in the raffle of twenty five fantastic prizes . We were all envious of the very lucky Lisa Finn-Carroll who won the ipad and Catherine Naugthon who won the iphone. We gave flowers to Breda O’Grady for all her hard work and plagues to steering committees on the special 20th Anniversary on 29th September.

Big Thanks to them. It was a great night and we chatted till 4am.
